Not to be dramatic, but I'd die for you, Fall.
Fall is my time of year. It's where I shine. My powers get stronger, in a sense. The smells, the sounds, our world around us truly changes. And with the colder weather brings more layers, seasonal depression, and a good old fashioned PSL from starbucks.
If you know anything about me, it's that I hate being cold. But I wouldn't trade this weather for ANYTHING! I've been bundled up all week, which is not only a blessing to me, but to anyone who frequently discuss the "scandalous" bikini pictures I post on Instagram, and my imminent "downward spiral." WELL GUYS, THE BELLY BUTTON IS PUT AWAY, I WENT TO CHURCH TODAY, AND I DONATED TO HURRICANE RELIEF. Can we still be friends Aunt Helen :(
I've pulled out the sweaters and the overpriced candles (seriously, if we spent our time and energy away from things like whether or not Ted Cruz is the zodiac killer, and focused our efforts on WHO PRICES BATH & BODYWORKS CANDLES, we'd be a lot more productive as a society, I'm just saying.)
But between the amount of rain we've received this week, and the amount of raw cookie dough I've consumed, I've decided theres only one more step to my full on fall conversion. And that is....
MY ANNUAL FALL PLAYLIST!
IT'S HERE. AND I'M SHARING, BECAUSE THATS WHAT INTERNET FRIENDSHIP IS FOR!
You validate me by commenting heart eye emojis on my selfies, and I provide you with a good rainy day makeout mixtape. it's fair. I don't make the rules.
I try to mix in new songs every year, but part of what makes the playlists so good are the classic nostalgic songs that I always include you know??
but as for the rookies, my favorites this year are:
+ Dumb Stuff - LANY (you know I'm whipped for LANY, but this song is everything I stand for)
+ River - Leon Bridges (I honestly debated putting this on the playlist, cause I wanted to keep it my little secret for forever and ever, but it's too good not to share. It makes me SO HAPPY)
+ Get You - Daniel Caesar (essentially the love child of Frank Ocean and Miguel. I've never done drugs, but I know that this song is what shrooms probably feel like)
+ DIvide - ODESZA (ODESZA MY HEART BEATS FOR YOU)
+ The Way Life Goes - Lil Uzi Vert (you'll feel super thug and super chill at the same time. it's confusing and exciting, and it's lil uzi, and I'm pretty sure he'll haunt me in the after life if I didn't put it on the playlist idk)
We have our power players,
Lorde, The 1975, Hozier, and our and our savior, Bon Iver,
+ Lorde always kills it, and her album this year was one of my faaaaavorites. I feel like we're best friends in a weird way??? Anyways, I included Writer in The Dark and her Homemade Dynamite remix, but if you listen to even ONE song on this playlist, listen to SWINGIN PARTY!!! I include it every year. it's so good. makes me want to cry, and slow dance, and cuddle in a huge comforter with 284 puppies surrounding me.
+ It's been well established that I would sell my first born child to have a 1975 song written about me. You know I love them more than I love my own biological family, and I could justify putting every single one of their songs on my fall playlists. But I try and accommodate ALL listeners, so this year I just added the chilliest dankiest "this song is so good it makes me hate myself" songs:
- antichrist - menswear - somebody else - nana - she's american - robbers - falling for you
+Hozier always pulls through with the vibes, and if your fall playlist doesn't have Cherry Wine, Work Song or Like Real People Do.... I DON'T WANT IT
And last but not least, the king of autumn himself, Bon Iver. His music, is to fall, as Justin Bieber Christmas album, is to Christmas. It's his world and we're all just living in it.
I added "Woods" because I think it's his most underrated song, ever. For Emma because SOMETIMES I LIKE TO BREAK MY OWN HEART, The Wolves (Act I and II), Beach Baby, and Towers, because they're so classic and necessary to survive. I'm just looking out for you.
And last but not least, "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman, because it's my favorite song of all time, and it just sounds better driving down provo canyon on a rainy sunday in September, looking out the window, pretending you're in a dramatically sad, and tragic, music video.
SO HERE IS 495 MINUTES OF CHILL VIBES!!!!!! I HOPE THIS HAS YOU ALL UP IN YOUR FEELINGS FOR THE NEXT THREE MONTHS!
